Objectives and skills

  • The Agrarian School of Viseu has graduated, and intends to continue to graduate, referenced professionals who work at various levels in the complex process of agricultural and animal production sustainability and environmental protection. In this context, the proposal of a postgraduate program is based on a regional / national commitment to scientific and technological progress, since postgraduate training provides an update, a deepening of knowledge that leads to a higher qualification of professionals in the field of agriculture sciences;
  • The Postgraduate Program aims to deepen technical and scientific knowledge in the area of ​​Animal and Plant Science, particularly in the areas of animal feeding and nutrition, applied biotechnologies to agriculture, sustainable agricultural production, effluent treatment and environmental quality, water resources management and organic production methods;
  • It is intended that at the end of this course the participants have developed the knowledge and skills in the scientific areas of Agricultural and Animal Productions, with relevant knowledge in the fields of natural resources conservation and management, environmental policies, recycling and revaluation of organic waste aiming for a sustainable agricultural production and protection of the environment, taking into account the agricultural policies and the PAC agenda;
  • The Postgraduate Program in Sustainable Agriculture and Animal Breeding is oriented for the professional activity in the productive sector or, in other hand, for the involvement and intervention in public or private organisms in matters of sustainability linked to agriculture and the rural environment. It is also intended to encourage entrepreneurship through the ​​creation of new products that incorporate environmental protection measures related to agricultural practices and linked to the emissions market and afforestation.
