Objectives and skills
Design, plan and execute, autonomously or under guidance, interventions and projects in Civil Protection, towards natural and / or technological risk situations, and participate and integrate civil protection teams in emergency contexts.
Main activities
- Conceive evaluation studies and design plans, projects and preventive and mitigating measures of natural, technological and mixed risks;
- Implement, manage and analyze geographical and cartographic information as instruments of civil protection at local and territorial levels;
- Plan and conduct controlled fire or suppressive fire operations;
- Develop and manage strategic plans to respond to emergency situations;
- Manage and carry out operational activities of security, protection and relief;
- Supervise and coordinate the implementation of strategic plans for the protection of people and assets;
- Coordinate and stimulate public awareness actions and civil protection exercises.

Access to bachelor degrees (1st Cycle)
Students with approval in all training components of the CTeSP, will be holders of a Diploma of Higher Professional Technician in Civil Protection, being able to apply directly, through a special contest, to the following Degree courses: Agronomic Engineering (ESAV), Environmental Engineering (ESTGV), Civil Engineering (ESTGV) and Buildings and Infrastructures Management and Maintenance (ESTGV).
During the course of studies a broad set of curricular units carried out in the CTeSP will be credited on the Degree courses mentioned above.

Component in work context
The training component in the context of work aims to apply the guideline and knowledge acquired to the practical activities of their professional profile.
The training component in the work context (internship) lasts for one semester and is ensured through protocols that ESAV has established with the entities or companies of the Viseu region and in specific cases of the bordering regions.
