Objectives and skills

Design, plan and execute, alone or under the guidance way, activities related to hotel, spas thermal and catering units, namely in the areas of accommodation, reception, food and beverages, commercial management, marketing and event organization.

 

Main activities

  • Developing gastronomic products in a sustainable way;
  • Measure and characterize physical-chemical and sensory properties of food;
  • Develop techniques in the area of food hygiene and safety;
  • Propose and implement targeted improvement measures in the area of nutrition and dietetics;
  • Participate in the activities of management of tourist companies (reception of clients, management of goods and services);
  • Planning and organizing events;
  • Organize, promote and disseminate local and regional tourism resources;
  • Advise and plan leisure and wellness activities;
  • Promote health and physical and mental well-being;
  • Recommend Portuguese regional food;

Access to bachelor degrees (1st Cycle)

Students with approval in all the components of formation of the CTeSP, will be holders of a Diploma of Higher Professional Technician in Gastronomy, Tourism and Welfare, being able to apply directly, through a special contest, to the 1st Cycle (Bachelor’s course):

  • Food Quality and Nutrition (ESAV);
  • Agronomic Engineering (ESAV);

Component in work context

The training component in the context of work aims to apply the guideline and knowledge acquired to the practical activities of their professional profile.

The training component in the work context (internship) lasts for one semester and is ensured through protocols that ESAV has established with the entities or companies of the Viseu region and in specific cases of the bordering regions.
