The main areas of interest in research and activity are: Viticulture, Fruticulture, Organic Farming, Integrated Plant Protection, Soil Solarization, Soil Microbiology, Genetics and Plant Improvement, In Vitro Micropropagation, Forestry, Ecology and Landscaping. The services provided fall under the scope of work in development, in Quinta da Alagoa, namely: Herbicide Test in Orchards of Apple Trees; Tests of Foliar Fertilizers in Vegetables and Application of Olive Oil Mill Wastewater in Olive Groves. In terms of infrastructure, DEAS is in charge of the Laboratory of Biology and Microbiology.
